Heated Vest SIZE CHART, USER MANUAL

When diving in cold water or under iceberg, the top priority is to keep warm. Diver will become less mobility when exposes to cold water for a long time and may suffer from hypothermia which will weaken your muscles, reduce your blood supply and make you unable to cope with any emergency efficiently. A heated diving suit solve this issue easily for those who love cold-water diving.

AKUANA Opah Diving Heated Dive Vest makes you warm, comfortable and alive during cold-water diving or ice diving. The long-lasting heated dive suit keeps you warm under cold water so that you can enjoy a longer dive time. You are able to adjust the heat level on your demand so that you can dive with comfort and without worrying not warm enough or overheat.

AKUANA Opah Heated Diving Suit

AKUANA Opah Scuba Diving Heated Wetsuit Vest has gone through 2 years of research on the manufacturing process and was put into the market after rigid testing under extreme condition, such as Antarctica.

We named this scuba diving heated wetsuit after the fish called “Opah” which is the newest addition to the list of regionally endothermic fish (warm-blooded), which is the only species that generates heat for itself with a rete mirabile in its gill tissue structure. Our heated vest provides additional heat to the users just like Opah generates heat by beating its pelvic fins.

This heated dive vest is designed to wear under any wetsuit and it has X2 dual heating zones that positioned on the upper back and the back of your waist, which to raise your core body temperature when you’re under cold water.

AKUANA Opah heated dive suit adopts carbon fiber heating strips inside the silicon tubes. Start the Opah heated vest wetsuit by placing the touchless non-contact wrist band controller over the receiver for 0.3s and feel no foreign body sensation, warms up 1 minute after it’s powered on.

This scuba diving heated vest has a maximum 30W of heating power and it comes with 3 levels of heating power selection which is low (18W), medium (24W) and high (30W). You can select each heating level according to the surrounding environment. There are two thermal control sensors monitor the systems. The system will be shut down automatically when the temperature reaches 42 degrees.

AKUANA Opah generates the Far Infrared heat which is powered by 12V 2500MAH lithium-ion rechargeable battery. The heated wetsuit vest is fully tested to 300ft/100m (seawater) which can last 2h-3h heating time.

    Battery Safety

The 11V lithium battery is solid and has no risk of flooding (Safe voltage for the human is 24V). The special waterproof technology plug connects the battery and heated parts. The error-proof design prevents misoperation. The battery and the vest can be placed separately. Allow user to charge the battery while drying the vest. An additional battery can be purchased, allows continuous power supply.

    Caution

    - Even though Opah heated diving suit provides enough extra heat underwater, the user still has to wear the vest inside thermal insulation (at least 3mm neoprene) to minimise heat loss. Use it with proper wetsuit will significantly enhance diver’s experience with cold or longer time of diving.

    - Be careful of low-temperature burn. Do not expose to the heated dive vest for more than 1 hour.

    - If you are not using the suit with battery operated, please remove the battery to avoid draining the battery.

    - Gold-plated PIN must be rinsed by fresh water after each dive; otherwise, it may get rusted and cause poor connection problem.

    - Hand wash only and hand dry only

    FAQs

Q: Why do I need AKUANA Opah Heated Vest when I’ve already had a thick neoprene wetsuit that possesses thermal protection?

A: AKUANA Opah Heated Vest helps to insulate your body and warm you up by generating heat constantly. While the thermal protection of normal wetsuit does not have the capacity to gather the heat all the time and the heat will lose away gradually when you spend more time underwater. Opah heated dive vest is a good cold-water diving buddy as you will never suffer heat loss and can get rid of thick wetsuit as it will affect your mobility underwater. With Opah heated dive suit you can swim in cold water with confidence.

Q: Can I wear the AKUANA Opah Heated Vest with a drysuit?

A: No. The problem wearing the heated vest (wetsuit version) inside a drysuit is there is no way to cut off the power in an emergency, as the batteries are inside the heated vest. Wearing it under a drysuit will cause burns if the batteries fail and overheat, and the diver cannot immediately get out of the danger, which poses a great threat to the safety of the diver.

AKUANA Opah Heated Vest (wetsuit version) is designed to work only with wetsuit, as the wetusit version of batteries immerse in the water and oxygen is isolated, it will not cause violent combustion and explosion when things happen. But there is air (mainly oxygen) in the drysuit. If you wear the heated vest (wetsuit version) in a drysuit, there is a risk of burning and may burn your skin.

Therefore we highly recommend that the wetsuit version of the heated vest should only be worn under the wetsuit. If you would like to wear it under a drysuit, you can try our AKUANA Opah Heated Vest (Drysuit Version)

The drysuit version has an external battery canister, and the battery can be cut off from the heated vest if there is a problem. The battery canister is outside the drysuit and is exposed to water, so there is no danger of fire or anything even in an emergency.

Q: How is the AKUANA Opah Heated Vest superior to another similar heated suit?

A: AKUANA Opah Heated Vest is the most cost-effective heated vest in the market, with affordable price but offers competitive features. Opah heated vest has the capacity to heat up within 1 minute after started and can last 2-5 hours depends on the battery and what heat level you on. The heated vest has the maximum heating level of 30W with dual heating zones. Besides, it has the most solid temperature control protection. The system will be shut down automatically when the temperature reaches 42 ℃ / 108 ℉ to avoid electrical short circuit or overheat. Opah heated vest features carbon fiber heating strips inside the silicon tubes and far infrared radiation (FIR) heating source. Unlike other competitors, our carbon fiber heating wire has the food trade silicon coating which has better flexibility and more comfortable to wear. The 2mm super-flex neoprene as main materials and flocking on the dorsal area to keep your comfortable and insulated.

I would recommend opah heated vest to every divers

The AKUANA heated vest works great, out of my expectation. Tried a few others but are not as good as this one. The batteries can hold the charge for a long time, low heating mode is warm enough for me, one can switch to differnet heating levels depends on their needs. It's a bit expensive but it is worth the money.

It's getting cold here in the States. The vest makes me warm and comfortable. I certainly enjoy diving in winter than before, thanks to the vest.

    Akuana Heated vest

I just want to thank the guys at Akuana for great service. I had an Akuana vest and had a problem with a battery, no problems, replaced it for me.

I have bought another heated vest for my wife and two spare batteries so I can use it for multiple dives per day.

I now wear my heated vest under my drysuit all year round and just adjust the Undergarments to suit.

I won't dive without it anymore unless I am in the tropics.

Thank you for your help and service.

    Recommend to everyone

Before I used to wear hooded vest under my 5mm wetsuit to keep me warm during the cold dive. Now my core is toasty without any hooded while I still wear Opah heated vest beneath my wetsuit, but even if you wear thin suit on top of the heated vest you will not get burned as the vest will automatically shut down if the temps is too high. The battery lasted about 120 minutes to 180 minutes on low to medium heat level.

    Excellent!

I purchased AKUANA heated vest for my dive trip in winter. I have been diving in ice cold water for several years and never dive more than 20 minutes until I bought the AKUANA heated vest which has literally extended my dive time for the extremely cold water. The vest is super fit under my wetsuit and could generate enough amount of heat even on the low setting. I don’t see any down side of the vest so far as I’m quite happy with the overall quality and the comfortness.
